The fourth generation of the was characterized first by a car body with significantly increased dimensions compared to the model that preceded it. This change followed closely that of the main competitors of that period, namely the Peugeot 207, the Renault Clio III and the Fiat Grande Punto itself. But also the fact that it shared with the latter the basic structure and the mechanics made it fit the new dimensions of the Italian, a trend which would later adhere to other B segment models, such as SEAT Ibiza. Unlike all of these models, Corsa D was the only one to not strike the psychological threshold of 4 meters in length.

A sensible change has also been made in terms of aesthetics: with respect to the outgoing C Racing, the new generation proposed decisively breaking lines, entirely new and unpublished. The quieter utilitarian lines of the previous race have left some more aggressive features that not only gave more personality and boldness to the overall look but also wanted to declare a largely mature maturity of the model.

Such a stylistic trick was not only to increase the car’s body’s sense of immorality but also to conceal the deliberately inclined front overhang to meet the passive safety requirements in frontal collisions.
