2022 GMC Hummer EV
The 2022 GMC Hummer EV is a luxury, off-road electric vehicle manufactured by GMC. The Hummer EV series was launched in October 2020 by a live stream. The Hummer EV submarket includes a pickup truck (CUT) and a confirmed sports utility vehicle (SUV) launched in April 2021. Hummer EV is similar to Tesla’s Autopilot and maybe better. Although not available at launch, GM’s upcoming Ultra Cruise system may arrive later in the Hummer EV’s life cycle.
The Hummer 2022 EV leaves no doubt about its heritage, although the pickup’s styling is slimmer and more modern than its Hummer H3, Hummer H2, and Hummer H1 ancestors. Unusual H-shaped headlight elements replace the round units found on the off-roaders with a full-width LED light bar bearing the Hummer wordmark. Each letter is separated by seven vertical “grids” in a tribute to the original combustion contents.
The Hummer EV Edition 1 is the only variant available at launch. Similar to the ethos of the Lucid Air and its initial Dream Edition offering, Edition 1 is a Hummer EV with all that GMC has to offer. It features a Watts to Freedom maximum acceleration mode, a four-wheel CrabWalk steering wheel, an adjustable air suspension, an Extreme Off-Road package, and Super semi-autonomous highway functionality.
The 2022 EV Edition 1 is equipped with a 13.4-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. A panoramic moonroof with transparent removable panels enables open-air travel, and GMC’s MultiPro tailgate is also included. Each Issue 1 has a white exterior and a special Lunar Horizon interior, plus a unique Issue 1 insignia.
2022 GMC Hummer EV: Interior
Inside gets an extremely technological advancement that matches the premium position of the truck. The Hummer has a massive 13.4-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. There is also a multitude of features in the system. Off-roaders – and mall crawlers – will appreciate the UltraVision cameras at the front and rear that show a direct view of what’s under the truck, making wheel placement easier and more comfortable. The optional, extraordinarily named Watts to Freedom mode activates an immersive driving experience that also enables the full capability of the EV drive for maximum acceleration. GM claims that 0 to 60 miles per hour can happen in this mode within three seconds.
2022 GMC Hummer EV: Design
The Hummer EV leaves no doubt about its heritage, although the pickup’s styling is slimmer and more modern than its H1, H2, and H3 ancestors. Unusual H-shaped headlight elements replace the round units found on the off-roaders with a full-width LED light bar bearing the Hummer wordmark. Each letter is separated by seven vertical “grids” in a tribute to the original combustion contents. A high beltline and narrow side glass echo the old H2’s greenhouse, but the slanted C-pillar is like nothing else from Hummer’s repertoire and offers some forward movement.
A beige sliding plate is the first indication that GMC is serious about the inflexibility of the Hummer EV – strategically located steel plates under the bottom protect important drive components such as the floor-mounted batteries. The Ultrium battery structure offers enough platform rigidity to provide an “Infinity Roof” outdoors, with three transparent panels that can be removed and stored in the large “trunk” or front trunk. One large panel extends across the width of the front row, with two half-panels on the left and right sides of the rear seat. Meanwhile, the rear glass with a power drop opens the cabin even more.
2022 GMC Hummer EV: Engine
The 2022 GM Hummer EV will take parades of three electric cars offering a GM estimated 1,000 horsepower (746 kilowatts) and a ridiculous 11,500 pounds. One Hummer EV boasts that requires no reservation is the impressive 800 volts DC fast charge, compatible with chargers up to 350 kilowatts. Credit GM’s Ultrium batteries here, which can range from parallel to series mode while charging, and can contribute up to 100 miles of range within 10 minutes. GMC has not yet announced the size of the battery, but the 24-module, double-stacked package offers an estimated range of more than 350 kilometers.
