The DBX is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine supplied by Mercedes-AMG. The engine delivers 542 horsepower and 516 lb of torque and, along with a nine-speed automatic transmission, is also supplied by Mercedes. While the DBX 2021 model is basically rear-wheel drive, a mid-range transmission sends torque to the front axle when trailing rear is detected, and there is also a limited sliding difference at the rear.
