2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider has its official debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show and quickly found himself beyond our wish list. Based on the 20165 Alfa Romeo 4C, 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider gets a host of upgrades as it gets closer to its North American arrival moving in the model year 2016. The most obvious change to the car is its removable top and additional body rising from the rear decklid. A naked carbon fiber roll bar hoops on the passenger, just as a similar windshield brace. Besides the lack of a sloping rear window, the car maintains a similar profile to its coupe counterpart.
There are changes to the body, however. Alfa had structural support to add to the carbon-fiber tub to keep rigidity of the car. The new material leads to 132 extra pounds, but the Italians claimed that the extra weight will not affect the performance of the car. New, more traditional headlights replace the error-eyed children of the coupe while new center-mounted exhaust pipes give back a sporty look. Power comes from the same 1.75-liter turbocharged inline four makes 240 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. No changes were made to the only transmission option, Alfa’s TCT twin dry clutch, six-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

2016 Alfa Romeo 4c Engine
2016 Alfa Romeo 4c Spider borrow the 2016 Alfa Romeo 4c Coupe’s 1.75-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder. Direct injection, dual continuously variable valve timing, and a turbo with a “bait control system” that turbo lag eliminate all work together to produce 240 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque between 2,100 and 4,000 rpm. The assist aluminum engine block reduces weight by 49 pounds.
The transfer, an Alfa’s TCT automatic twin dry clutch with paddle shifters is also shared with the coupe. The transmission provides automatic and sequential modes, so you can choose your own drive or let the car do the work. Shifts come very quickly in manual mode if the transfer is one of the fastest in the segment. Speaking of speed, the 4C Spider just 4.1 seconds to load 0-60 mph en route to a top speed of 160 km, it as fast as the 4C coupe and faster than any Boxster out there as of January 2015.
The drivetrain received a nice upgrade through the dual exhaust system built by Akrapovic. Constructed from titanium, the outlet has an electronically controlled valve system flow and noise leaving the carbon deposited exchange pipes. The system works much like active exhaust the Corvette’s.
The 2016 Alfa Romeo 4c Spider also gets an upgrade to its computer software. Alfa’s latest generation of DNA ‘software allows the driver to change an attitude of the car for different conditions. The three modes – Dynamic, Natural and All-Weather – work together in providing the right computer inputs at the right time. “Race” the new fourth mode, can carry out the car safely on the job without a computer on the correction or restricted driver.
The 2016 Alfa Romeo 4c Spider can be further improved through a rail package. The bundle includes special shock absorbers with larger front and rear sway bars and larger forged-aluminum alloys shoes in Pirelli P-Zero “AR Racing” tires.
